Shopping in Helsinki

When it comes to shopping in Finland there are many places you can go and plenty of different types of things to see and do. The capital of Finland, Helsinki is a city that is full of sights, sounds, and cultures. There are world-class museums to be found in the capital as well as beautiful and lively art galleries. Hotels in Helsinki are plentiful and provide the traveler with everything they need for a comfortable stay.

Shopping in Helsinki starts in the center of the city at the heart of its downtown known as the MRT station. There are numerous large malls including Iki Park which is a sprawling retail and entertainment complex featuring everything from international brands to local Finnish designers. Other major areas of interest in the center of Helsinki include Virapko, the grounds of the old Central Railway Station, and the new and popular Central Market Square. The main shopping streets in town include Eero Aarnio, Sienna, and exits to the various shopping districts such as Virapko, Espoo, and Hanbo.

Arriving in the capital of Finland, first of all I went to travel to brand stores and iconic markets (the car booked here was very useful).

Shopping in Finland starts and ends in the centers of the cities and in particular in the capital of Helsinki, but there are several small towns nearby that have just as much to offer visitors. In Oulu a beautiful natural harbor on the northern part of the country provides a great location for sailing and fishing. Other local attractions in Oulu include the graduate school of Ethical University, the National Museum, and the University of Tampere. A few blocks from Oulu, the largest city of Finland sits waiting patiently on the shores of the Gulf of Finland for its visitors. The city of Turku is home to over a million people and is where you will find the best selections of Finland souvenirs and home decor items to make your stay more meaningful.

If you have never been to a museum before then it is recommended that you visit one in Turku. Turku serves as the headquarters for many Finnish artists and has some of the finest expat shopping centers in the country. This city is also home to a number of important international film producing companies and some of the finest art galleries in the world. The expats looking to travel to Finland should take time to check out this wonderful shopping district and enjoy what they can find.

On a trip to Finland and shopping in Helsinki one might also want to check out the Esplavo institution, which is a historic building dating back to 1843. The expats looking to buy or rent a house in Finland should make sure that they are near the capital of Helsinki and a good place to go if they are interested in learning more about the rich history of Finland. The Cigna Global Art Gallery in Helsinki is also a great expat hangout, especially for those looking for contemporary art. Cigna offers excellent rates on car rentals and hotel accommodations to those staying in the area. The museum has an expat library where the expats can consult information on a number of different Finns living abroad.

There are three main shopping districts in Finland that the expats should keep in mind when visiting. These are the central Oulu region, the southern Jyvola area and the southern part of Ostrobothnia. The Central Oulu area boasts a wide variety of local products, while the southern part is known for its great seafood restaurants. The southern part of Ostrobothnia is known for its traditional clothing while the central region is a shopper's paradise with a range of department stores. Department stores such as Argos, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's are all easily accessible from the main shopping districts in Finland.
