Athens is a tourist's paradise. I managed to visit it only once, but the impressions were enough for a lifetime. The luckycar service, where I rented a car, helped to save time on a two-day trip.
Greece has a wide range of islands which are perfect for a relaxing vacation and a great trip to accompany a loved one on a picnic. These islands include islands like Kalokletiki, Corfu, Epirus, Achladies and Sterea which have interesting beaches and many interesting tourist attractions. There are many Attic and Greek villages which can be explored during a weekend trip to Greece. Amongst these islands, the island of Mykonos is probably the most famous for being deserted during the Second World War and being the largest island in Greece. If you have an adventurous side, then the island of Zakynthos is for you where you can explore caves, tombs and temples.
Apart from touring islands Greece, if you want to experience Greece's culture then a trip to museums and galleries is an excellent idea. The Parthenon, which is situated on the Island of Aegina and The Acropolis came close to be destroyed in the Second World War and so was saved from destruction.
Another fascinating idea for a holiday in Greece would be to explore the local countryside and visit small rural communities. For instance, if you are staying in Corfu then a great weekend trip would be to visit the small fishing village of Kouloumenos. The main village of Kouloumenos is just a few kilometers away from the port of Corfu. On your visit to this village, you will find a traditional house with a swimming pool and a cafe. It is a very unique experience to be able to meet the local fishermen and the women of the village who would gladly give you some information about the region.
For those that are considering a journey to the mainland Greece but worried about security issues then there are plenty of great ways to enjoy peace and quiet amongst a large number of other holiday makers. You can join a group tour organized by a company that specializes in vacation packages. These companies usually provide accommodation, transportation, food and sightseeing opportunities in and around the island of Greece. All inclusive vacation packages are a great way to travel to Greece without having to worry about traveling with an empty wallet.
If you would like a more strenuous activity during your trip to Athens, then you can book a one day trip into any of the remote islands surrounding the island of Corfu. There are several small islands that are only accessible by water and the price of your vacation will depend on the number of days that you wish to stay and the amount of travel time that you require. These islands have some of the best historical sites that you will ever see. On your one day trip you can see the ruins of the Mycenaeum and the Temple of Athena Nike.
